Type Locality and Naming

Along the Kamyrykak mountain, South Fergana, Ya.M. Khayfets, N.A. Avakov, V.S. Kochubey, 1968. Used in the stratigraphic scheme of Quaternary deposits (A.I. Kim et al., 2000). T.M. Kremlyakova

Synonym: Kampyrkakskaya Suite, Кампыркская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Alluvial-proluvial conglomerates with sandstones, gravelites, siltstone (aleurolites), and lacustrine bluish-gray clays of the Lyakanskaya depression. Thickness from 86 (Kamyrykak mountain) to 2500m along boreholes in the depression.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformably overlies Pliocene rocks, locally cutting off part of the layers, or on Paleogene with clear angular and azimuthal unconformity.

Upper contact

Overlain by sediments of the lower member of the Neopleistocene. Lacustrine clays are overlain by lacustrine sediments of the upper member of the Neopleistocene.

Regional extent

South Fergana, foothills of Guzan and Adyrov zone.

Fossils

Contains ostracods - Lineocypris namanganica Schn., L. igrassavatica Gr., L. aladatovi Gr., L. adventa Schn., L. minuta Schn., Schneiderella khutorovi Gr., Schn. chatovi Gr., Candona compressa (Koch.) and others, characteristic of the Kepelian Fm of Fergana. Spore-pollen complex indicates a significant areal spread of grasses, near rivers - sparse forests of alder and hazel, on watersheds - pine and oak.
